Kiri Maia Sailing Adventures

When a dream becomes a reality

Our lives became very interesting & not always how we imaged our dream would play out.

We would never have thought that three years after buying our first catamaran "Kiri Maia" a Lagoon 420 in Greece, we would sell Kiri Maia and buy a brand-new catamaran a Lagoon 450s "Kiri Maia2".

But that's exactly what happened, sending us onto a roller coaster journey starting from
Les Sables-d-Olonne in France at the end of March 2022 to the Caribbean December 2023.

Leaving Les Sables-d-Olonne, we set sail across the notorious Bay of Biscay. Down the Atlantic coast line, through the Mediterranean finishing the season on the island of Aegina Greece. In 2023 we were ready to move on from sailing around the Mediterranean and sail across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.

Our final season in the Mediterranean was an incredible journey. We were incredibly lucky to share so much of our adventures with Mark and Stacy on Bedouin, who we can safely say will be our lifelong friends. We had two amazing road trips, one through Turkey the other in Morocco, both fantastic countries to explore. Upon leaving Greece in April 2023, we sailed to Turkey back to Greece, onto Sicily, Malta, the Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Gibraltar, Canary Islands Spain.
From Tenerife in the Canary islands we sailed an incredible 2,760nm across the Atlantic Ocean arriving in Barbados. Christmas was spent in St Lucia. For new year's we headed to St Vincent to party with Jackie & Juan, Kemroy a local young entrepreneur went out of his way to ensure New Years eve was a night to remember. Then onto the Grenadines & finally Grenada our final, destination before heading home.

Along the way we made some fabulous friends from all over the world. We had unbelievable fun hanging out with them, soaking up new cultures & learning the history of each country. We ate delicious & not so delicious local cuisine in some off beat places. We explored all sorts of places we would never have imagined in our wildest dreams; we would go to.

The passage from La Linea to the Canaries & across the Atlantic proved to be an amazingly special time for us, having Caroline, Bruce and Colin on board sharing the trials & tribulations of living on a small boat on a very large ocean while at the mercy of the weather gods.

To all the wonderful people we have met along the way, you will always be in our hearts wherever you are in the world. Thankyou to everyone that has followed us on Facebook, we love sharing our journey with you all.

Kiri Maia, means adventurer in Māori, and what an adventure we are having, sailing to so many different countries, sharing our adventures with family and friends and making new friends along the way.
