Made it to San Diego
13 October 2015 | Shelter Island, San Diego
After a ~1275 nm voyage that began on September 1st in Tacoma, Huzzah arrived safely in San Diego this evening. This leg was of the trip went faster than planned, so five days after leaving San Francisco, we made it!
The trip was very successful by all measures. No crew injuries, no significant boat problems (sans a broken Halyard), calm seas, and favorable winds. Many thanks to Ken & Fred for their friendship, help & support over the many months of preparation leading to and help with this journey! And most importantly, thanks to my first mate Jody for her help, understanding and patience with my me during the months (years) of boat preparations.
So what's next? Fred & Ken fly home in a couple days, while I get busy on my long list boat projects that need to be completed before the Ha-Ha starts in two weeks. Mostly typical stuff like; hire a welder to Fab some stainless parts, get the engine valves adjusted, sort out some rigging issues, get the navigation electronics to play together, dive the boat & change the zincs, etc., etc.
We enjoyed a great sunset as we rounded Pt. Loma...
