DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY
22 March 2016 | San Jose del Cabo
Bobby McFerrin's lyrics seem so appropriate to me right now "In every life we have some trouble, But when you worry you make it double, Don't worry, be happy"! I'm an emotional basket case right now due to all the delays preventing us from leaving Mexico, so this really resonated with me.
It started with sloppy workers in La Paz severing the radar cable. Then (in spite of heroic efforts by Jody and Rich Boren of Cruise RO Water) who ordered the part and got the shipment ready for pickup yesterday - DHL biffed their part of the deal... and failed to pick up the package. No reason given, it just didn't happen! So, now the cable I was expecting today or tomorrow won't be here until Monday, as Mexico shuts down Thursday thru Sunday for Easter. Yesterday was a holiday here as well. Then, our refrigerator started to gasp and sputter. It now runs 24/7 to keep the box at 47F. We have an awesome Cool Blue freezer, be we hate to lose the ability to freeze our fresh catch for cold beer. I know, that's one hell of a conundrum! So we made an appointment with a local refrigeration guy for 8 am this morning. But, he called at 8:05 to say he's too busy. Maybe this afternoon?? Or, as they say "mañana"...
The people here in San Jose del Cabo are great! All the local Mexicans we've met are really nice and try to help within the extent of their ability and authority - which is typically very limited. So, our parts stop has now turned into a ten-day ordeal! I'm starting to understand the saying "paradise can be your prison if you don't choose to be their there"...
