First Day of Winter – Moorea
20 June 2016 | Opunohu Bay, Moorea

In the Southern hemisphere, today is officially Winter! It's supposed to be the dry, cool season here; which is why cruisers migrate here at this time of the year. But the rain and wind have been our nemesis for the last couple days. Yesterday we had 25 knots (gusts to 35 kts) while anchored here in Opunohu Bay on Moorea. Today, four inches of rain so far - and counting. So we had a nice scrambled egg breakfast and lots of fresh ground NW coffee to take the edge off. Six adults aboard can get a bit cramped in the rain, but thankfully, Huzzah has a huge cockpit with full canvas offering us decent protection. So we're hunkered down...waiting. And it's warm, still about mid-eighties during the day and only slightly less at night. So we're not cold, just feeling waterlogged. Cheers!
