After re-launching Huzzah, Jody & I were anxious to get away from the boatyard and head to Bora Bora for our 37th anniversary the following day. But since a fair bit of work connecting and checking out steering systems remained, we decided to spent a second night at the boat yard. Morning brought an absolutely perfect day for the 25-mile ocean passage; unusually calm 1m swell, 10 knots of wind and almost no wind chop. For once, we had the delightful conditions for a truly memorable sail! And it was! Once through the Bora Bora Pass, we took a mooring buoy off the Bora Bora Yacht Club for dinner. We had an epic evening! Awesome location, excellent food, all with the love of my life! Truly memorable evening I will never forget. I don't how it could get better.
We are now anchored between a large motu and the island's western outer reef in 13' of crystal clear water. We swam with large Rays a few days ago a ½ mile off Huzzah's stern. It's a popular anchorage, and we're here with a couple of our cruising buddies. That means we rotate hosting of happy hour and/or dinner, which is great fun. Many of the Puddle Jump fleet have continued on West, so there are fewer boats now. One of our cruiser buddies will be leaving for New Zealand in a few days as well. Most of us that remain have long-stay visas like us, or are Europeans. A few US boats will be sailing back to Hawaii in October with us, others' will be storing their boats here for Hurricane season. Cheers!!
