Been a few days, been without wifi. Moved around a bit, had a few "adventures".

April 24, 09 - And now the work begins

Two hour commute from mother-in-laws house and we are at the boat. The list is so long we are both a bit overwhelmed. Well - probably more than a bit.

Good news - the boat looks good
Bad news - there is this large metal thing covered in white plastic on the ground beside the boat. And it appears to be our engine!

See - we wanted the hose on the stuffing box replaced. The shaft would not come off the coupling and so he was going to lift the engine to pull the shaft out forward. And while he had the engine lifted we figured we may as well replace the old motor mounts. And when he had the shaft out we may as well replace the cuttless bearing.

Maybe we get things back together Monday, or Tuesday, or ...

So we cleaned. Linda started inside and worked aft. I started on the starboard non-opening port. (thanks Doug!) I pulled the old cracked on, cleaned, prepped and installed a new one.

With the engine out I cleaned the very gucky engine bed. Rather than do the two hour commute each way we took a cheap motel for the night. (Cheap motel in the Annapolis area is an oxymoron)

It is now 7:30 am and we are heading back to do more on her!
