June 13 09 - North East Harbour to Cutler
55.9 km, 9 hours
It was sunny, sunny, sunny. We took all of the foam out of all of the cockpit cushions and had them on the fore deck drying. We had rugs out there, towels hung on the lifelines and all of our wet gloves. We looked like `boat people`. There was about 5 knots of wind from behind us so we felt very little wind. We had the current with us most of the time and we were getting closer and closer to Canada. We saw puffins and seals. And then we saw the antenna farm just west of Cutler.
Cutler is a working harbour, that is, no`yacht y amenities`. But, being a working harbour, it is also very friendly. I called Deano's Lobster Dock to see if I could get some diesel and to ask if he know of a fish boat away over night, that I could borrow the moorings. Deano`s was closed up but some fisherman got on the radio, directed me to a vacant mooring and offered to come get us and drive us the five miles to a grocery store if we needed anything. We love Cutler! What a neat place.
Tomorrow, back into Canada.
