October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Saint Anne de Bellevue to Hull

Hi,
We stayed two nites here and then , much to the Captains opposition , we left on Thursday for Martha's Cove above the Carillion lock .About half way to the lock it started to POUR for about an hour and visibility was restricted to radar and the GPS and 15 ft in front of the boat - not a happy captain !!!! It quit raining as we locked thru the 65 ft lock and the sun came out so we could find our way to Martha's Cove and the most hospitality we may see this summer. Karen had to go to Hawkesbury Hospital to get her blood checked and we were going to take the boat and then make our way somehow to the hospital ---not a chance. Lawerance , the marina owner told us he would drive us and said if you need a doctor there will be one here today working on his boat and he would come to see Karen. Sure enough the doctor was there Thursday nite and I met him and he assured me that he would get the test results and if we needed anything he would help. He had the results on Saturday and came to the boat to see Karen and told her what everyone else had been saying - put ice on her leg and now it was ok !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We left Sunday for Montebello Marina where we stayed two nites and then off at 8:30am on Tuesday for Lac le Mey marina where Karen hoped to make her fortune at the slots --RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!
We had made plans to meet a boater we had befriended twice ( 2007 and 2008 ) . Pierette came to see us on Tuesday afternoon and we had a great time. She drove us the grocery shopping - super lady .
We stayed two nights and Shawna and Jerry and the boys Jeremy and Jeffery came on Thursday morning and they helped us up the step locks at Ottawa on July 1st. We had a great day .
