October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Tobermory to Kincardine & Kincardine

Wayne
Hi,
Well, up at 6am , looked out and no one was up so back to bed - 6:30am Denise rapped on the boat and they wanted to go - the flag was quite flat. By 6:45 the dock was busy with everyone wanting to get out. Jeff and Kelly in a 40 ft Tira had already left and by 7am I was away from the dock with Denise and her captain in a 30 ft following us .The 2 boats from Port Elgin - Bob and his 3 young sons in a 410 Sea Ray and (senior moment) Rick (I think) and his wife Sally in a 34 Sea Ray left the dock soon after us .Karen thinks another 30 ft was also behind us. When we approached the first few waves I called Jeff aboard "Jelly" and he said it was winder than yesterday but not as big waves . I less than 1/2 mile in the open Denise and the other 30 ft turned back . The two boats from Port Elgin proceeded so we got in line and ran 17 to 19 knots in a lot of 4 , 5 6 footers and the odd big wave for 2 1/2 hrs . As the 2 boats turned to Port Elgin we continued on course toward Kincardine. I about 1/2 hr the waves started to flatten slightly and at Bruce Nucular the waves dropped to 3ft or lessand we were in Kincardine by 11:30am after 81 miles . Jeff and Kelly were waiting for us as we docked in Kincardine.
We had thought we had things stored well on the boat but , we spent 2 hours cleaning up . All Karens books and all the VHS movies in the v birth were on the floor behind the the door and I had to push a bit and then reach in and throw things back so I could get in. Everything except the bed spread and sheets was on the floor. The cabin area was strewn with thing off the counter. I am careful to make sure the wine cask is in the sink so nothing happens to the valuables.
We took it easy after lunch and then Cindy and Dana , who had been with in the Trent, came over with friends Tim and Dale . Later I was on deck and friends Cheryl and Rick Taylor came into the harbour in their sailboat. They came over for a refreshment and some catching up as we have not seen Cheryl for a few years .
We slept well last nite !!!!!!
Jeff and Kelly left this morning .
Bob and Joan Houston called this morning and we went out for lunch and visited for a couple of hours - great to see them again .
Greg and Tim showed up to arrange tomorrows activities and had a couple of pops !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greg invited us out for supper and Tim picked us up at 6:15pm after the heat had started to subside . Had a great meal and fellowship. Karen and Dale moved inside for the air and the guys sat outside . We were home by 9:30pm as Karen was starting to fade !!!!!!
I was up early in the am as we were supposed to go fishing and no one showed up -- I thought the lake looked quite flat but, they said not for a 20 ft boat .Dana brought her cousin Amy to see the boat and Greg and Tim came over for visit and a pop or 2 and Greg asked us over for supper again - Karen was too tired to go but insisted I go !!!!!!!
