October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Pittsford to Lyons

Wayne
Hi ,
On June 5th we watched a large barge go by just before we were planning the go to Fairport . We knew they only travel about 5 mph so we sat for a few minutes and then followed . It was very slow going so we tied up in Bushnell's Basin so the could get ahead of us and watched as we knew there was another barge coming behind us . As soon as we saw it coming around a corner we left and caught up to the 1st barge at Fairport and watched it maneuver through the boats tied up on both sides , found a place to tie up and walked around the down town area for a while the left hoping to stop in Palmyra , decided not to and continued on to Newark . Laundry was top on our list as we had not done any since we left . An early evening rain and cool wind stopped our evening walk . We did more laundry in the morning , went for a walk to the store and picked up a few things and caught up on emails .
We went for another walk that evening , watched a tug with 2 large barges go by just at dusk and tie up at the lock ahead of us and readied to leave the next day .
We did not hurry in the morning as we were only going 5 miles and 3 locks to Lyons . We knew there was a Rotary meeting there at 6pm so we walked up town after being met by the greeter at Lyons dock - there is always someone there in the afternoon or evening . We went to the meeting and returned to the boat and then went for a walk , a movie and sleep. We found out the Oswego canal is closed so we will hang out here until it opens and then move on to Baldwinsville and next to the Oswego canal and Lake Ontario .
