October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Lyons to Oswego

14 June 2017
Wayne
Hi ,
We were in Lyons for 3 days as we received a notification that the Oswego Canal was closed due to high water flows . We also were told that Baldwinsville was plugged with boats waiting to go down the Oswego . Some boaters came from Baldwinsville and said there were not many boats there - how rumors get started !!!!
On Friday , June 8th we left at 7am and arrived at 12:40pm due to higher than normal current in the river which sped up our travel to 9+ kts at times . We went to the library to use the wifi (Lori borrowed 2 newspapers by mistake ) and there were fireworks at night .
We were up at 6 and locked through at 7am and had a great cruise in the swift river current again making good time and arrived in Oswego about 1pm after 7 more locks . We fueled up and headed out to look at the lake - way over the 2-3 ft another boater told us !!!!
Back into Oswego Marina and we were there for 2 nights waiting out the wind . We decided to go out for dinner on Monday night and started walking - first to the hotel near by and didn't like the menu so on up the street and asked a roofer working on a building and he said there was a great Mexican spot around the corner - not to our liking yet !! and farther up - closed , so back a block and across the bridge over the Oswego River and the Supreme Buffet was boarded up , so make a left and up a street with many restaurants and bakeries . Weeee checked out the menus on the way up , turned around and went back where Lori wanted to go , went in , got seated and were told that what Lori wanted was not available so we got up and left and returned to The Red Sun Fire Roasting Co. to check out the special - Pork tenderloin , roasted potatoes atop asparagus , sauteed portabello and shetake mushrooms topped with creamed truffles topped with shaved fried onions . The presentation was superb and the dinner was so tasty . If you are ever in Oswego I would recommend The Red Sun Fire Roasting Co. and the Port City Cafe Bakery at 207 -209 W 1st Street . 315 -343-2412 .
We met several boaters from Toronto on their way home from winter south - some who live in their boats on Toronto Island year round !!!
