Wayne
Hi,
We were up early as I anticipated a long day to Parry Sound based on my experience from 2012 and left shortly after 7 am on a sunny , cool morning and were soon into the many marked channels which lead along the east shore of Georgian Bay . We seemed to make good time and soaked up the rugged shoreline as we passed . After a few stops to make sure we were on the correct course we were in Parry Sound by 1 pm after making contact with friends John & Sandy Baxter from Sarnia who are in Big Sound marina for a couple of weeks We tied up at the dock belonging to Donald & Karen Sanderson - great place just south of the main harbour in Parry Sound . That night we walked up the 82 steps to their home and visited with Donald & Karen and a friend Carol .
The next day we borrowed Carols car and went into town to visit John and Sandy and do some shopping . We hosted Donald , Karen and Carol for dinner and Lori came up with her usual great meal - horsd'oerves , ribs , baked potatoes , salad and a baguette . Carol brought desert - lemon pie and butter tarts . Great time as we toasted with champagne and finished with a cherry chocolate wine .
This day was started with laundry up the 82 steps and then I washed the boat , then rain and a movie , rain ,dinner and to bed early as I was tired as the power had gone off the night before and I didn't sleep well without my C-PAP .
Rain welcomed us the next day and carried on until about 2 pm . A good day to catch up on emails and the blog !!!
On the 19th we didn't have power for a few hours as Donald was power washing the dock and landing area - same power - 15 amp . We did emails and cleaning .
John Baxter came by dingy to ask us for dinner but we were going to Donald's that night . We borrowed one of Donald's seadoos and went across the bay to see John and Sandy - first seadoo ride for Lori . Great dinner at Donald's .
The 21st started out sunny and then rain and then we took Stella , Donald's dog , out for a walk for an hour , one of several walks and a restful afternoon .
22nd was laundry and wash the boat day - had to scrub whole top side of the boat as the wind had covered it with dirt and the rain had set the dirt to the deck . In the afternoon we went for a long walk . Donald came down for an for an after dinner drink and visit .
We had planned to leave but it was too windy
on the 23rd so we went for a walk along an abandon rail line and saw a large snapping turtle . Donald and Stella came to the boat after dinner for a farewell drink and talk and goodbyes as we are off in the morning . Great visit .
Part of the reason for going to Parry Sound was to visit with Lori's neighbours at their summer home but that did not work out !!!!
