October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

June 23rd to June 30th

Wayne
Hi ,
A lot of boats began to leave on Sunday . We went for a walk and managed to find some ice cream . I called Jules and Carole about going there and left a message . Kind of a lazy day .
On Monday we were up early and got ready to lock through and head to Jules and Carole's . As we approached the river Carole called and gave us directions to their dock . after a 20 minute cruise up river we arrived and tied up . It was great to see them and had a super time catching up on the last year with drinks and snacks . Supper was a combined effort including steak , baked potatoes and salads and wine and some great desserts . And of course lots of conversation . We were up early in the am and enjoyed a great omelette prepared by Jules and toast and Wayne's muffins and lots of coffee . We left after 10am and locked through Carllion lock and on to Hawkesbury public dock . We took a taxi to the Hawkesbury Hospital to get my foot checked - we left after we were told it could be 8 more hours before I would be seen for a total of 11 hours - not that bad .
We were up and away from Hawkesbury by 9 am and arrived at Lefaivre for fuel and a pumpout . Then off the lac Leamy casino marina for the night . We had a great supper and Lori spent a few $'s in the slots .
On June 28th with the boat full of water for about a week's stay , we left for the Ottawa locks and locked up with a looper boat called " Stout" and tied up on the wall where there is no power as all the spots with power are taken . On June 29th we went to the visitor centre and tried to get tickets to the Parliament Buildings , no luck , but did get tickets to tour the Peace Tower . One of the people at the visitors centre told Lori to call her MP's office , gave her the number and the MP's secretary gave us a private tour to pretty much the whole building - Great . On June 30th we walked to the Canadian War Museum some 1.6 mile in 34 degree weather on hot sidewalks . After 4 1/2 hours of walking and reading war history from the 1400's to current war history with a 20 minute break we headed back to the boat . Great day !!!
