October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Wayne
Hi ,
We were up and Lori was on her way to do laundry by 8 am only to find someone was there and it was 10:30 am before she finished .I baked a batch of muffins and then we went walking checking out the Legion and walked up town where we found a Discount store which sold Costco leftovers !!!! Lori was in her glory and amoung other things bought a bath robe for Declyns birthday and I bought some DVD's at a pawn shop . We ended up at the Legion for lunch and talked to a retired OPP officer and shared boating storing . We spent time on the dock and went for another walk after supper and noted there were a lot of dogs on the docks - transient boater , eh !!
After breakfast we walked up town again as I had to return a packet of DVD's as the one I wanted was just a blank . They were surprised too and gladly gave my money back and more shopping and back to the boat for lunch . About 4:40pm we headed to Metro for some last minute items and watched tv . Steak for supper , I cleaned the grill and Lori did a couple of loads of laundry . Orillia marina is great , close to town .
We were up early , got rid of the garbage , breakfast and showered and leaving the marina by 8:15 am on our way to lock 42 & 43 and stopped at Waubic's restaurant for lunch , the first time in 3 years that we were able to get in to the dock , and on to Big Chute for the night and the usual tour watching boats use the railway system .
We were ready to lock through at 9 am but maintenance held us up for a while , on our way by 9:50 am to lock 45 , the last of our about 150 locks this year . We arrived at Midland and fueled up and got pumped out and tied up in Midland Town Marina . We walked up town and checked out the legion ,no one there , and back to the boat . Lori baked a cake , we watched a movie , supper and went for a walk and as we returned we talked to some loopers . It rained all night .
