October 21st & forward

I returned to the boat on the October 21st and with Gerald's help the batteries were removed and I cleaned under the battery cases and applied a layer of gel coat. I also looked for a way to run power from the new to be installed inverter to the power panel in the boat cabin. It took quite a while but [...]

September 14th to September 21st

We left at sunrise for Kincardine and had good seas and were able to cut straight south instead of following the shore line for protection as we had done last year. We visited with Rick and Cheryl and left before sun up in order to miss an early afternoon wind direction change that never happened !! You've got to love weather forecasts !! We were in Sarnia before noon and stayed for a week. I rented a car and we drove to Ingersoll for Lori's car and visited friends a bit before heading to Ecarte Marine for winter storage.

August 27th to September 13th

We got an early start crossing Rice Lake and up the Otonabee River to Peterborough by 1pm. We plan to stay a week as we enjoyed our stay before and were always on the move. Shopping , walking , dinghy rides and of course wings at Riley's on Tuesday night. The local boaters were always on the dock in [...]

August 23 to August 27th

On the 23rd we headed for Napanee for a couple of nights and hoped to see boaters we met last year. Not much going on here , few boats and the town was not busy . We walked a bit both days.

Wayne Franklin
Hi ,
On the 18th we took a load of everything we need for the boat and drove to the boat and loaded everything and put it away except food and drove home . The kids are coming over for pizza and wings .
In the morning we packed all the fridge and freezer stuff to be ready at 10am for Do and Shirley to pick us up and drive us to the boat , stopping in Wallaceburg for lunch . After they dropped us off we got everything put away and and got ready to leave at 7am for Leamington . It was a cool rainy day and arrived after noon and waited as Lionel and Elsie were picking us up for supper .
We were off before 6 in the morning for Dover . Clam seas were the forecast but, it got a little rough until we headed toward shore to get in the lee of the land and smooth sailing to Dover .
We were up early to get to Port Colborne to wait to transit the Welland Canal into Lake Ontario . We finally started 12 hours later and locked through all night finishing the 8 locks at 7:15am .The Welland Canal was not a good experience as we did it all in the dark and they held us up several times and made us tie up to bollards that were 30ft from the boat so we had to add line to reach - NOT a nice experience .
After a short stop to make coffee we headed for Whitby arriving at 11am and after checking in we were in bed after being up for over 30hours - too much for we seniors !!!
The next morning we were off to Cobourg marina which we then found out had no power . Lori went to the hospital as she had been bitten by a woodtick and had a bullseye on her back for which she received two blue pills . She will be fine now and will not get limes disease .
