This day was a series of short runs and then going threw lock. Made good time and tied Marcia and my lock record of 6 in one day. Anchored in Tombigbee river cut off. Talk to a couple of young guys out cruising. They filled us in on the local party spot, etc, etc. we went to bed. After seeing this snake and being told by the locals that there were crocodiles in the area, we decided to shower in the boat.

Took awhile to get a response from the lock master but eventually we did. This is a large lift of approximately 85' in a 1000' long and 250' wide chamber. After we got out it took an hour to make it to the harbor and get tied up.

We see the dam

The current picked up all day and really slowed us down. However we had been running from early in the morning till late so got to the dam early enough to lock threw and make it ti Aqua Yacht Harbor.

Moving along

It takes about 3-4 days to make it to the Pickwick lock so the next days were just a lot of motoring checking out the scenery.

We left Lighthouse Landing headed to Paris Landing and got there late in the day tied up and had a peaceful night. However, when we woke up the next morning they were having a bass tournament. So we had to wait for all of them to get called to leave. Eventually we did get to leave and headed out to Pickwick Dam/lake. This old railroad bridge looks like it is on its last legs.

Preparing for the 2022 trip

We have been preparing for the last few weeks and are almost ready. We still have installed a new shower sump and installed new cockpit side curtains. The mast is going to be unstepped on the 16 September at Green Turtle Bay. Marcia doesn't want to take the boat ride so I have a friend that will be going with me Mike Dillard. Mike and his wife's boat is on the hard in Croatia, so i have borrowed him for a little while.
