Haulout Time
08 August 2012 | Puerto Escondido
Doc HOT HOT HOT!!!
Well Hello form the land of hot enough to fry ANYTHING on the sidewalk! Internet has been less than good to say the least, If you read this it is the 4th attempt to get a Blog out into the cyber-ether and onto the web.
So we thought we would do a haulout sometime later this fall when we got into the Guaymus/San Carlos area, but while enjoying the beautiful waters of Candelleros I scrubed the bottom of the boat. And then I scrubbed some more the next day, It should not take 5 hours with a scrapper to keep your bottom clean sooooo.... Time to find a boatyard, and what do you know? they have a 50ton travel lift in Puerto Escondido, with very good pricing. so we pullled the boat out for some very needed maintanace time. 11 days on the hard in a Hotter than hell Mexican boatyard in August??? What was I thinking? Work for 45 minutes hide in the shade for an hour, Sleep?? nope you just close your eyes and get slow roasted over the nightime hours until the Broiler shines back on way to early in the morning.
All said and done the boat got 2 new coats of bottom paint, we repaired the banged up corners that the pangas( and harbor patrolman) like to run into. repainted those areas well enough to make it look like new . And now Hoooray we are back in the water, life is good again. Now if we could just keep that internet connection.......
Ok so back in the water, fresh bottom paint, thouroughly dried out, and in need of some island swim time. we are planning on leaving for Isla Danzante sometime in the next hour or so.
We should be in Loreto sometime next week and should have some real internet again for at least a few days, We plan on making some phone calls and lots of emails. Love you all. Peace Love and Coconuts Doc and DD
p.s. Puerto Escondido is like a weird little Stepford Wives community of never leaving people , who if allowed have the ability to suck the joy out of visiting cruisers if you dont see it coming first. We saw them coming and killed them with tales of JOYFUL cruising, and happiness.
P.s.s. thank God for Pedro and his magical teinda of EVERYTHING, if I dont have I will get tomorow. you rock Pedro, Poco a Pocito
