Staying in Stuart
24 April 2017 | Sunset Bay Marina, Stuart, Florida
Low 80s, windy, partly sunny
After a very restful night we headed in by dinghy to shower and find a place for breakfast. Maria's Café offered a large menu, and the food was tasty. We walked back along the Health Trail, part of which is a boardwalk along the river. It turns out that Stuart has an oyster replenishment project like the one in Charlotte Harbor! There are also many large, colorful lizards running around. We dinghied back to the boat to organize a bit and then headed back to land again for lunch at Luna's with the PGIslanders gang. A tour of the Stuart Heritage Museum (originally Stuart Feed Supply and before that a general store) gave us a good background in the history of this small town. It turns out there was an intersection here called "Confusion Corner" because a number of roads came together near a circle which was tough to sort out, even with road signs. We walked back to the marina for some quiet time. The wind had really picked up so we hung out on the deck for a few hours rather than get wet in the choppy waters trying to get back to our mooring. At 4:30 we met up again and walked into town for ice cream, which was delicious! Goodbyes were shared at the dock and tomorrow we all go in different directions. Bill and I are headed to Vero Beach and hopefully the weather will cooperate!
