Buggy, Muggy, and Ugly
17 June 2018 | Shipwright Harbor, Deale, MD
82 degrees, humid, calm
Sunday, June 17 - Deale, MD, 75 miles, 11 hours
Happy Father's Day, Bill, and all the other fathers we know! This morning was pretty - cool, calm, and partly cloudy. But the sun came out and the wind completely died as we turned onto the Bay from the Potomac. It was buggy, muggy, and very uncomfortable. The tide was against us all day and there was no wind for a sail to use to help us. As we passed Solomons we saw dolphins again (like on the way down the Bay) and the photo shows their dorsal fins. Sorry it isn't a better picture. If you have ever tried to take a photo of dolphins from a distance, you know that it is difficult... We thought we would continue to West River to anchor out, but at around 4:30 we had enough and decided to take a slip in a marina. We headed for Deale, and docked at Shipwright Harbor at around 5:45 pm. Quick, plug in for the air conditioning, put on bathing suits, and hit the pool! Back to the boat for wine time and pick-and-peel shrimp and cole slaw for dinner. We took a nice, long dock walk (there are lots of docks and boats here!) and then went back to get ready for bed. No definite plan for tomorrow - we were headed back to Rock Hall since it was supposed to be 95 tomorrow, but now Weather Channel has changed the forecast. Guess we will see...
