Our Last Night on the Road!

Not much to report for yesterday - Bill drove and drove and drove. We left Slidell, Louisiana and stopped for the night in Lake City, FL. I had wanted to stop at Florida Caverns State Park but the tickets for the tour of the caverns are first come, first served and as we neared I called and we [...]

Working on the List

20 June 2018 | Philadelphia, PA
Partly cloudy, low 80s
Wednesday, June 20 – Philadelphia, PA
I woke up at 5:00 am – guess the “to do” list was swimming in my head. It is light here at that time of the morning, unlike in Florida at this time of the year. At 7:00 Darren went off to work, Bill worked on bills on his computer, and I went out to the brewery to prime and paint the trim around the sliding door and some cover plates. Bill installed a screen door too. Around midmorning we started to demolish the front porch. Parts of it were rotten but we hope the framing can be salvaged. Darren and Kim had started the demo, and we got a lot done – maybe 1/5 left to do but we ran out of steam even with a break for lunch. (See photo.) We found a very big “burrow” underneath – maybe from a large groundhog. Or a bear, Bill says! The old decking was packed into the truck. Tomorrow we will finish the demo and go to the dump. Three loads of laundry are done and ready to go back to the boat. So it was a productive day! Darren came home from work, we did a tour with cocktails to check out our progress, had dinner, watched a little TV, and then headed to Sleepy Town.
