Getting Things Done!

Hotter! 87, partly cloudy, more humid
Monday, July 9, Philadelphia, PA
Today Kim and Darren stayed home from work, so all five of us were here working on our lists of projects. I vacuumed the third floor and rearranged furniture a bit. There are still window seats to be built up there sometime. We carried a dresser downstairs from the nursery and Mom worked on sanding and painting it all day. One more coat tomorrow morning and she will be finished! I touched up the hardware for two garden benches - now we need to get wood to make the seats and backs. Kim and I took some metal to a recycling facility (she got $25!) and then hit the hardware store for paint and a few other items. I replaced the screening for a window and helped Kim empty the cabinets in the brewery. The guys moved them to the garage and then we moved wood planks into the brewery that were milled from a maple tree that fell in a storm. (They have lost many trees here over the past couple years.) Darren is going to make counters and shelves out of these boards. The guys also wired some exterior receptacles and fixed the AC in the brewery after some pondering on the possible problem. Kim and I made a door out of some tongue and groove pine flooring that was left from the kitchen. It was also milled from trees here. We need to make the other one tomorrow to cover the stairs down to the cellar. The guys moved two stone slabs to the front porch and replaced wood steps with them. They look great! All tools and materials were cleaned up and then Kim and I picked raspberries in the fields around the house. After dinner I had some on vanilla ice cream - delicious!
