88 and sunny!
Wednesday, July 11, Philadelphia, PA
Darren was off to work again! Mom packed up her stuff so she was ready to go whenever we were. I painted the new cellar doors with Kilz primer and worked on getting the paint off of the strap hinges – see photo. I used a putty knife and heat gun, and then finished with a palm sander. Tomorrow I’ll paint them with black Krylon and paint the doors with gray exterior semi-gloss. Three guys showed up to start removing the siding – the aluminum goes into one dumpster for recycling and another dumpster is for scraps of wood and tarpaper. Kim worked on email on her phone while watching their progress. Mom polished a brass hook Kim had saved and Bill installed that on the back of a door in our room. Now I can hang my PJs and robe! He also put a closet rod in the nursery. After showers we got on the road to pick up Nancy at her daughter's. Then we will take the ladies to the airport in Allentown and from there they fly directly to Punta Gorda airport – very convenient! We got to Laurie and Bruce’s in Fountainville in time for a nice lunch and tour of their home there. Then, with Nancy in tow, we were on the road to the airport, getting there with time to spare. After saying farewell to the ladies, we headed to Joe and Julie’s to pick up a sewing machine table they are giving Kim and Darren and then went out for dinner. We ate at PJ Whelihan’s which is known for having good bar food. A quick stop at Lowe’s allowed us to pick up a few things for tomorrow, and then we headed home. We spent lots of time in the car today, but got everything done we had planned, so that is nice.
