Our Last Night on the Road!

Not much to report for yesterday - Bill drove and drove and drove. We left Slidell, Louisiana and stopped for the night in Lake City, FL. I had wanted to stop at Florida Caverns State Park but the tickets for the tour of the caverns are first come, first served and as we neared I called and we [...]

A crew of three appeared at 9:30 to pull siding off the house. Mom called, and she and Nancy were delayed for an hour on the tarmac at Punta Gorda due to lightning, but they made it home okay. While the guys worked on the siding I put the final coats of paint on the cellar doors and hinges. (They look pretty good, but cannot be put together until the siding is on and we can determine the length of the doors.) When the crew stopped for lunch I did too, and I took the included photo. At the end of the day they had uncovered some good things that pleased Kim and Darren - molding and decorative touches that were not apparent with the aluminum siding over it. They will have to decide what to keep and how to upgrade it to make it weather resistant. I cleaned up all of the paint and tools that had been used for the last few days, and then headed to JoAnn's Fabrics and Bed, Bath, and Beyond for a few things. When I got back I replaced the strapping on a luggage rack, put drawer liner in the chest of drawers in the nursery, and cleaned up the sewing table we picked up yesterday. Kim and Darren got home and checked out the progress on the siding. We had dinner, and then Bill and Darren carried the pool Kim bought from the car to the patio. I think they will set it up this weekend - it is supposed to be hot again. I stitched a few items for Kim and everyone went to bed. Tomorrow we head for Rock Hall.
