Our Last Night on the Road!

Not much to report for yesterday - Bill drove and drove and drove. We left Slidell, Louisiana and stopped for the night in Lake City, FL. I had wanted to stop at Florida Caverns State Park but the tickets for the tour of the caverns are first come, first served and as we neared I called and we [...]

Bill Gets a Chill

19 October 2018 | Portsmouth, VA
Partly cloudy, mid 50s
Bill and Mike made it to Portsmouth today but it wasn't easy. They had to wait until the wind died down this morning so they could get out of the slip! It was a very cold morning, and the temperature only made it to 54 degrees during the day. The trip was long and difficult, but they made it to Tidewater Marina by dark. Once the boat was tied up and the heat was turned on they went to the marina bar and had some wings and oysters. Then they went back to the boat and collapsed. It is amazing how much a cold day on the boat can take out of you! Kim and I did not venture out today - it was cold here too and yesterday's outing was enough for awhile. I worked on converting a couch with a chaise to a sofa. It had a brown slipcover that had seen better days. Now it looks okay but needs a little more work on the slipcover when I come back in December. I also put the first coat of gray on the kitchen door. One last coat tomorrow and it will be done. Saturday morning I will be driving to meet the boat in the Dismal Swamp - another change in plans. You have to be flexible when dealing with a boat!
