Calm, and Then A Storm...

80s and cloudy, rainy and windy
The boys on the boat made it through the night with no troubles. They raised the anchor (the photo shows their neighbor in the anchorage – from Jamaica!) and left at 6:45 to head to Cocoa Beach, 50 miles south. As they moved along the wind picked up and clouds built. Eventually they did make it through Mosquito Lagoon (VERY windy!) and through the bridge at Haulover Canal – this is significant because the bridge will not open when it gets too windy. As it was, only one side opened but the boat slid through. Bill and Tracy saw winds of up to 45 knots and at least three blinding squalls pass through during the trip. A railroad bridge opened and closed a few times as they approached – that was another worry, but it turned out that a crew was working on it. They made it by 2:30 – great time for what they went through! Once in the marina they took the bus to Publix to pick up some groceries and Ubered back, then walked to a restaurant for dinner. Meanwhile Kim, Mary, and I headed to John and Vanessa’s to visit. The kids were off for Veterans Day, so we all had lunch and hung out for a bit. Kim and I stopped at Kohl’s to check out holiday wear for the baby, and then hurried home. She took the cats to the vet while I watched Mary. When Darren got home he made a sauté with chicken and spinach for dinner - which was delicious. An early night for all of us!
