Heading Towards Home

We woke to a beautiful morning and sat outside to enjoy watching the area wake up. Bill made breakfast sandwiches and we prepared to leave our mooring. Around 10:00 we dropped the line and headed out of Matanzas Pass. As we passed Moss Marina Dede and Dave joined us and we motored towards home. The Miserable Mile lived up to its name. Power boats passed in gangs and rocked us all over the place. Not one slowed down to give us a “slow pass” like so many do on the ICW. And many were way too close to each other – if one had a problem they would have run into each other at the speeds they were moving. But once we left that area it was much more pleasant, although we had to motor the whole way to Useppa. We anchored between Useppa and Cabbage Key and spent a relaxing afternoon reading (me) and napping (Bill). We do rock to the wakes of the passing boats, but not too much. Dede and Dave anchored nearby and joined us for burgers for dinner. Another nice night on the boat…
