Sailing Past The Rain Forest
12 January 2017 | Fort de France - Martinique
Frank
We had a very pleasant sail down the West Coast of Dominica on Tuesday afternoon and were greeted by a huge smile from Desmond in Roseau. He remembered us from a couple of years go when he organised a mooring for us then too.
There were fabulous views all way of thick rain forest covering the tall volcanic hills.
We were sorry to have been too early to meet up with Mandy's work friend Andy and his partner who are coming in by cruise ship on 20th.
We left at about 06.30 the following day heading due south. We ran the OCC Net on passage and had the best transmission and reception all season.
We had another fantastic sail across to Martinique and down the coast to Fort de France and arrived just after lunch. We were unexpectedly welcomed by Patrick from Blair Mor who had spent a month fixing their engine. We anchored near Badgers Sett and had tea and cake with Ken & Judith who we had not seen for a couple of years.
We have a lot of washing and provisioning to do over the next couple of days.
