Wahoo Boxing Day
27 December 2019 | Rodney Bay - St Lucia
Frank Hatfull | Bright and Breezy
We left Bequia yesterday (Boxing Day) just before dawn heading for St Lucia.
It’s always a bit tricky lifting the anchor and feeling one’s way out through a busy anchorage in half light.
We also found that the starboard side navigation light had packed up… another little job to add to the list.
Kalluna left about half an hour before us.
The wind was very light to start but soon picked up.
We had a reasonable beat upto St Vincent then a very fast beam reach all the way upto to St Lucia.
It was Mandy’s turn to run the OCC radio net which is always a challenge when on passage… but it was nice at last to be able to speak with Mermaid and Cranstackie.
We had a really big fish strike off St Vincent and spent half an hour trying to reel it in… but it got away.
We then caught a large Wahoo midway between St Vincent and St Lucia.
We arrived in Rodney Bay at about 16.00 an earlier than expected which gave us plenty of time to prepare a fish supper for Kalluna!
We leave for St Anne’s in Martinique very shortly.
