Anchorage & Slips -do you know

I checked Marina Del Ray for a slip on 7/1 and they tell me getting a slip looks slim at Burton Chace Park. Are there any other options, or does anyone know of a slip I could rent for a night? My sail boat is 42' long with a beam of 14' plus and drafts 7'. I need one night here, for my trip.

My wife and I are planing a trip to Catalina on 6/29 then on to Marina Del Ray on 7/1. On 7/2 we would sail out to Santa Cruz a stay the 2nd and 3rd. We plan to anchor around Albert or Willows Anchorage, then on the 4th, sail south to Catalina (92 miles) to Avalon.

Also, I have never sailed to the Channel islands. Is the anchorage that I mentioned above good/safe, and due to the holiday weekend, will we find a decent place? Rocks, kelp concerns?

I would welcome any comments or advise.

Thanks
Mike
