14 January 2011 | St Augustine North Mooring field
Alex
This is us sitting back at the north mooring field off Historic St Augustine. We are leaving today at 2:00pm (the earlier post time for leaving just shows that I can't read a tide chart yet) on a 3/4 flood tide and out we go. We hope to round Cape Canaveral around 2:00 am and get into Fort Pierce around 2 pm / 3 pm tomorrow.

We met with a couple last night (I'll let Faune post their pictures when we get back in), who have a house in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera (Bahamas). So we are thinking of Stuart for a few days to see some friends then head to Ft Lauderdale for some provisioning followed by No Name Hbr (Key Biscayne) for some interesting sites. Once that is accomplished we will cross to Great Issac in the Berries Island group and on to Spanish wells.

We are leaving today with Rhum Line 2 (Hunter 46) so they can follow us out the St Augustine inlet. It will be nice to have some company through the night. They have a brand new motor and, like us, just need to see how all the new stuff/boat changes works out.

The name "iolite" comes from the Greek word for violet. Iolite is a semi precious stone, purple-ish in colour and it has also been called "water-sapphire" and the "Vikings' Compass", because of its ability to determine the direction of the sun on overcast days. This works by determining the [...]

We visited the Butterfly Garden which is part of the Natural Museum within the University of Florida (home of the Gators!), in Gainesville. Hundreds of butterflies are housed in a vivarium (huge enclosed space with sun & air moving through special screens & gorgeous gardens with streams/waterfalls flowing through). If you sit still they land on you to rest & make you feel wonderful. Most peaceful experience ever!!

With deepest respect to The Deep South that we just love, there are certain features that do create its sugared charm. Here are but a few.

There are a few notes on some pictures to point out specifics but overall it was the beauty I found in industry or the sense of flow with changing icons
