Ferragudo
22 April 2013
We now know that we are on the Ferragudo side, looking at Portimao, and it look hideous, all high-rise apartments and hotels, full of white looking tourists, cruise liners and expensive looking cafes/bars - I have no intention of stepping foot over there.
Went ashore with Andy & Lady (Vulcana) at Ferragudo, we walked to one of the boat yards to have a look see, then wandered in to the village, Andy has been there before so was able to show me where all the shops were. We had lunch there, and I can say its a lovely little place... (Really don’t bother with Portimao).
We still haven’t seen the Spanish boat, who left the Marina at Sines a head of us on Saturday, so decide to have look in the marina Portimao side on our way back to the boat, and too our relief there he is on the waiting pontoon, as we come round the corner, he is just getting ready to move onto another pontoon, had a chat, he arrived at just after 8 am on Sunday morning, he was knackered, as his Thai wife does not sail, he does it single handed. He said he was going to be lifted out the next day and have the hull spray cleaned.
There were a few tourist about , not seen that many people in one place for a long while and nearly everyone was from the UK, this freaked me out. We were spoilt in Sines, so quiet and we had to learn a few words of Portuguese, here everyone barked at the Portuguese and I realise how rude the British are abroad !!!!
