Day7: Sagunto - Valencia (16 Nm)
29 July 2006 | Valencia Yacht Harbour
Tom
We still do not have a good Internet connection (my laptop broke down), so only a brief entry.
Left this morning, motoring without any wind. After about an hour I noticed the engine temperature was rising high. I immediately stopped the engine, and let it cool down for half an hour, while we stayed adrift just in front of the entrance to the big industrial harbour of Sagunto. After half an hour, I started the engine again and we continued at 2000 rpm without further problems. Maybe a plastic bag had temporary obstructed the raw water inlet.
In reality, we did 36 Nm, but on our way to Gandia we encountered a wall of 25 knot winds. So we were forced to undo the last 10 miles we had sailed and enter Valencia Yacht Harbour. This is a very big marina but not recommendable for a stopover. From the visitors berths to the nearest shop or bar, there is a 30 minutes walk.
About a day delay according to plan.
