Andy
Yokwe, made it to Majuro!
Landfall - Majuro! Now that we have cleared customs and immigration, taken down the quarantine flag, raised the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) flag, and caught up on a bit of sleep, we are starting to think about what needs to be done before flying back to Brisbane on the 15th January.
The cruiser community in Majuro has been incredibly welcoming, tracking our progress every day while at sea over the HF radio and giving us directions to the mooring, and advice about clearing in. Last night we were treated to a lovely evening catching up with Sal and John from Jaraman and meeting Rexzine and James from Pogeyan. The minor tribulations of the passage, which was quite intense due to strong winds most of the way, are fading fast. Tonight is the weekly cruisers' dinner at a local restaurant so we will get to meet up with a few more yachty friends who are also here in Majuro and make new ones.
So far we are really liking Majuro, air conditioned supermarkets with iceberg lettuce, grapes, SNOWPEAS! After the six week vege drought in Tarawa just before Xmas our eyeballs were bulging! After the obligatory hamburger and macadamia nut icecream we liked Majuro even more.
Today is laundry and internet day, lots of washing to be done, so best keep jigging, just wanted to let y'all know we got here! See you soon Brissie friends and family.
