Plan C (cont'd)
03 May 2015 | Daytona Beach
The beginning of Plan C got us to an anchorage off Melbourne by sunset around 1945. Ryan and I had a quick tapas dinner, showers, and were asleep before 2100.
Rising at 0600, we were underway again but well-rested. What a difference a night's sleep makes! We made our way up the FL coast passing Cape Canaveral's Kennedy Space Center, and transiting the Mosquito Lagoon by motor sail - there was a nice 15kt beam reach wind blowing across the barrier islands that gave us a knot pick-up even in the confined channel of the AICW. We saw multiples of dolphin, several manatees, rays, and all kinds of birds. Plus, the locals out for their Sunday water "sports!"
By 1930, we had reached Daytona Beach and anchored at the north end to avoid any issues with the lift bridges and Mon morning rush hour traffic. What will tomorrow bring?
