Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Beautiful San Juanico

2/23
We were up at 0600 this morning. We had the hook up by 0615. This was pretty good by our standards. We motored all the way to San Juanico arriving at1100. They boats further out said there was plenty of room deeper in. However there isn’t much swinging room so I have the 35 lb. delta 150’ off the stern to hold us if we get W tonight.
We had a nice lunch of beans and bread. Then off to shore to explore.
We put the wheels on the dinghy. We discovered that makes it a little harder once you get near shore. Anita had trouble dragging me and the dinghy up. Eventually (with me poling) we managed to get the dinghy near enough to shore for me to pole vault with the paddle to dry land.
We walked up the hill to the beautiful mansion. The watchman (Emelio) was very kind and let us walk the grounds. There was a water truck that kept a good supply of water for there was a pool and a lovely home for a rich American gringo.
We continued N along a road the Ramada (the bay- not the hotel.) I teased Anita that there was a Ramada just over the hill. Nevertheless, she and I were impressed by the lovely beach that faces N.
We continued along the road that bent back towards the beach. We stopped and looked over an RV that was parked along the beach. They were from Maine and had 2 big dogs. Emilio`s dog had also found this little troup and was busy visiting.
We BSed with these folks for a while and then continued back to the dinghy. This time I suggested Anita just step into the dinghy and I would push it out by wading with my pants rolled up.
We stopped by Aleydabeth ( a BCA Endurance 35). Lyle and Lark are really nice folks and we had a nice visit and tea with them. We were back at Karina by 1700 and I set the stearn anchor so we wouldn`t move during the night.
We had a nice supper of spaghetti, then a movie and off to an early night.
