Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Ok... Ok...

22 November 2011 | Mazatlan (Still!)
Jay/ Hot
11/22
OK OK.. we were supposed to leave. The Mazatlan bungee cord is firmly wrapped around our ankles. We are thinking about later this week. We are still shooting at La Cruz for December 1, but we will likely take a straight shot at La Cruz.
We have got the bikes out and Anita is mucking around with the keyboard in preparation fro Wednesday’s jam session, so we are as close to moved in as can be. We need to be on the move by Monday at the latest. There is a real reason for us to be staying here: Hurricane Kenneth. While he is nowhere near us, he is kicking up a SW swell that makes the NW winds produce a rather confused sea. So here we will stay until Ken steps out of the neighbourhood.
Yesterday was coolish in the afternoon. We kept warm in the hot tub for much of the afternoon. I had a wonderful conversation with a battery expert on the relative merits of shifting over to AGM batteries for our house system. The present Trojans are in their last season for sure. Today, there are no clouds and the temps are forecast for the mid 80s.
