Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Home again

Anita starts washing the boat down.
We had a great time with Kip and Mary. On Saturday night we went over to their place and had a great meal with them. I continued my loosing ways with Mexican Trains by loosing every single round on both Friday and Saturday nights. It’s a good thing I’m such a good sport (###$%%^&).
On Sunday morning we were up early. I gave one last check of the weather and we got going. As forecast, the weather was light all day, night, and we motored into San Carlos in calm conditions. We had the genny up for a few minutes when a light W wind came up around 2030. It was gone by 2130, so I rolled up the genny and we soldiered on.
In the early afternoon, Anita mentioned how we have gone the entire season without changing a fuel filter. Sure enough, the motor dipped about 3 hours later. We had the motor going in no time and we were on our way before Karina had a chance to drift around.
We arrived in San Carlos to discover that a Ley and Santa Fe (2 major grocery chains) had opened up here in San Carlos. That makes provisioning a short walk. Very handy.
We are in shut down mode now and Anita has begun the washing down process. I gotta go out and help her as she will “charm” me out to do all the ugly jobs. So I’ll sign off for now. I will have one more blog entry that will wind up the cruise. I’ll publish that before we leave on the 4th of April.
