Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

In the yard

Karina C is ready for bottom paint

We are getting well established in the yard as being whiners about small boat problems. We have a persistent drip on the keel. That means there is water in there. We picked up a couple of small owies on the keel as we were coming and going at Berkovich. I have faired the owies and we will drill out the keel before laying up at the end of winter. The Mexican summer will dry all the keel out and we will be good as new next fall.
We found a lab to get my "test" done. We will stop by early next week and get the test done and see how I am doing. I am being as good as gold. Anita has cut me off coffee, hot chocolated and all sorts of other goodies that I love. The funeral is going to be on Saturday.

We had a busy day today. We did a lot of the final prepwork for the bottom paint. We also mucked out the truck and organized stuff for stuff that will stay in the trucck, needs to go on the boat now, needs to go on the boat later. We then transferred our stuff to/from the boat and we are almost ready for launching on Thursday morning. We have some painting to do and I need to shove Anita in the sail locker to work a little magic on the propshaft (we've already cleared the locker). It shouldn't take her 10 minutes in there. We will take the afternoon off and hang around the pool and steel ourselves for launch day on Thursday.
