Marina life
29 December 2013 | Marina Palmira
Jay/Hot
The days here at Palmira just slip by. We are booked for playing at the bar tonight. Hope there are a few other musicians wanting to play as we are not up to more than an hour or so. There is supposed to be another trumpet, 2 guitars playing. That would be great for us as we don't want to be the main act. My lefthand index finger has been giving me trouble with pain when it is tightly curled. So much so, that I have taken to wearing my watch on my belt. I think it is slowly getting better, but it has me worried that it might be a more chronic problem. I guess time will tell.
Today is 80F (25C) and it is just comfortably hot. Nick and Nancy (Jesse Marie) came in yesterday and are presently at dock 5. That is the high rent one as we are in the 36' slips for cheap boats. Believe it or not, there are some expensive boats on our dock. I didn't know Valiant made smaller boats. There are a few pacific Seacraft 34 and 37s on our dock as well.
We went to church today. Nick and Nancy tried out a new English language church that is further away from the marina district. There was only 5 of them today. Given the fact that Crossroads is so small, I question weather another English language church is needed in this community. Denominationally, they seem to be the same flavour as Crossroads. They should try Episcopalian or some mainline denomination.
I have been thinking of how things are going back at Brechin. Hope all is well. Maybe by the time we get home, my finger will let me get to all the chords to jam with the kids. If not, I will have to resort to ibuprofen and tough it out.
We were going to go out for New Year's Eve. We still may do so, but the weather hasn't been accommodating with high winds forecast until Wednesday morning. That is when Anita wanted to be away as she fears the falling bullets from the New Years celebrators. Yes, the big thrill is to run outside with your gun and fire it up into the air. Of course, all bullets that are fired up into the air go straight to heaven and never fall to the earth. There is a boat in Marina De La Paz that has a welt on its deck from a New Years celebration.
I feel kinda bad this afternoon for not being outside enjoying the day as it is so nice. I remember days like this when I was a kid and Mom shooing me out the door saying something about there not being many nice days like this, so go outside and enjoy them. Little did she realize, all days here in La Paz are much like this.
