The new car: a Chevy Traverse (2015)
Hola blogamigos,
We are getting ready to head S to complete our cruise. Anita is relieved that we are not sailing to Hawaii and back to Canada as she fears the Mal De Mer. I am a little blue about shipping back to Canada as our "Canuck Buck" has recently sunk to new lows of 79 cents making shipping a costly proposition. Fortunately, we can still afford it.
The new prostate cancer med (Finesteride) seems to be working well and I am feeling very well. So well that I have been able to cease all the incontinence products I had to resort to in December. The only creepy part of this drug is a slightly reduced libido. Fortunately, everything still works and I guess I will get used to the new regime.
I wanted to get a survey done before we ship Karina. The ideal place to have it done is San Carlos (while she is still on the hard). The insurance folks wanted a SAMS surveyor. Unfortunately there is not a full member of that group, just an associate. The insurance folks are investigating his CV with regard to accepting his credentials. Hope it goes our way as it will save us a haulout in La Paz.
The new car has been performing very well. It is considerably easier on gas than the old rig. The above pic is of the 2013 traverse, but the 2015 looks much the same with the same colour. The XM radio makes travel a joy. We listen to the jazz radio broadcasts and we are listening to all sorts of great musicians. We have got the optional roof rack and a Thule carrier for extra luggage.
One of my friends in the Tuesday jam passed away in December. While it was sad to loose such a great jazz mind, he had been struggling physically for a while and he was playing good music right to the end. May I be so lucky. I put together a quartet to play the celebration of life. The group was so well received, we are looking into more performances that we will line up for this fall. The group is a joy to work with as all are great musicians. Anita is rock solid on key bass, Mike is tasteful on piano, Wayne is a very musical drummer and I struggle along on trombone.
Anita is still playing with her dixie band. They like her as she is able to do so much to fill in when things go west (as they so often do with older musicians). Today, she subbed for a church service at a nearby care facility. Did her usual great job.
We have concerns about the shipping company and their penchant for tardiness. Time will tell the tale on that story. We need to be back in Canada in early May for my biopsy. The last we heard they were planning something for La Paz in mid April. May it be so.
