Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Life at Marina Costa Lotta

3/28 The Star Lygra. Our ship to carry Karina to Canada
We are slowly prevailing in the paperwork war of our boat being shipped back to Canada. Today we went to the officina of the marina to get more paper to send off to the shipping agent. All is beginning to fall into order. Another good thing is our freighter has arrived on the East coast where iit will go off to Ft. Lauderdale and then to La Paz. via the Panama Canal. It looks like it will be here in April mid-teens at the latest.
We have made contact with the shipping agent. Seems like everything is falling into place. The agent on this side seems to do email promptly. We sent off a raft of paperwork today as an opening salvo in the paper war.
The sails are all down on Karina. I have to straighten up some halyards to keep them from beating to death on the way home. I painted the backstay turnbuckle with nail polish to replace it back to where it was when we get home. Anita sorted out the lazarette and we quit for the day. We went over to Berkovich Marina to visit Cathy and Reno. They have diagnosed their engine problems as a heat exchanger. That is an easier fix than the head gasket that was suspected.
