Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

I have met a new girlfriend: Greena C. I haven't seen her in 25 years since the "professional" hairdresser made an error in the days before Anita didn't trust me with hair colour.
Today I overdid my work. I took both the cotter pins out of the backstay turnbuckle and ran the motor for a few minutes to confirm the fuel filter changes were successful. I suspect there might be one little bubble as the motor took a few seconds to start. I'll bleed it on Tuesday and I bet things will be different. So far, I am a week ahead of myself. I was going to use all my effort today to update the blog, but in a fit of energy, looks like I have done several days work in one day. Tomorrow, we are going into town to shop. That takes us until lunch which is the usual quitting time. Soooo I will have to dedicate the time I am ahead of my efforts to walking the dock and bullshooting.
On our morning walk today, we walked out to the brakwater and watched a boat attempt to abrogate the "red right returning" rule. It almost resulted in beaching himself on the mogote (a large sand bar in La Paz Harbour). Unfortunately, he was watching his sounder and peeled away at the last second. From then, he stayed out of the harbour until he noticed how other boats did it and he entered the harbour and butted in front of two other boats waiting for fuel. Karma will get him.
