Ode to Old Age

We made it back in time to do a little work on a project we have going in the back yard: a retaining wall. We have bought 4 palettes of bricks and we are about to lay them. We've hired a young man who is a very good worker and he has been ever so helpful. Today I (Jay) went to the ophthalmologist's office [...]

Out for a couple of weeks

In late June, Anita’s shoulder and my eye healed sufficiently to make a little journey on Karina C.

Anita Bigland | Hot and wet
July 31 Our daughter's wedding anniversary. We haven't been out on the boat lately. Last week Dave took us out on his boat and like a fool who thought she was still 21, I tried waterskiing and pulled something painful in my back. Now I'm using a cane to get in and out of the bed. Jay cracked a rib doing the building of our fence. The fence is now complete, and is wonderfully doing its job of keeping the deer out. The in between time with the trees gone before the fence was done was a regular smorgasbord for the deer. We finally got our fridge conversion kit we had on order for over a month. It turns out that another party had ordered this item before us, and when it took too long in coming, they decided to buy something else. Good news for us. I think with all this ""working from home" (walking the dog and enjoying CERB), has left nobody to make these items. Anyhow, now that we have it, we are too broken apart physically to work on installing it, so, so much for getting that done just yet. Though Jay is dreaming of being back out on the water again, I question if we could launch a dingy, or change a fuel filter if needed out there. At home we have 2 canes, so we are both able to hobble around. We did a few Jam sessions, and Jay might be volunteering to help out a band on a few gigs that were stuck when their trombone player left them up the creek. Looks like we'll be staying with close trips, as soon as we can find a cyclist who refuses to wear a helmet, to be organ donors for us.
