A belated Christmas to you all

I told you it would become quiet on the blog front! Another quick summary: Christmas was lovely, though it didn't feel very Christmassy in the shops or around the marina beforehand, so Pegasus and another boat family instigated some Christmas Carol singing on Christmas Eve. Mia and Tamsin had made a gingerbread house which was demolished at the end of the carol singing. Santa managed to find us again this year, despite our nomadic lifestyles and the kids were happy with all their prezzies - lots of skyping on Christmas morning was followed by a pot luck Christmas lunch and Richard joined us for a Christmas dinner - the sun shone thankfully, but now we are back to a bit fat low passing over NZ bringing 35-40 knot winds which is why we are still up here in Opua and will be up here for New Year.
We've managed to sneak in a couple of long walks when the weather has been dry, but with much moaning from Mia. She summed up her feelings "Mum, walking to me is like snorkelling to you. You like doing it for 5 minutes but then you've had enough." Fair point. Which is why they got scooters for Christmas. Madrona, the other boat family are big walkers and I was looking forward to spending time going on lovely hikes with them. Alas, whilst their children have boundless energy, one of mine would much prefer to curl up on her bed with a good book, and it somehow spoils the enjoyment for everyone when 5 minutes into the 3 hour walk you are being asked how long before the walk if over!!
not much else to report, so I'll sign off here and wish everyone a belated Christmas and a wonderful 2012.
