08 November 2009 | Princess Marina, Pittwater
Sorry Dave!! We've been so busy since we got here I forgot to put our arrival on here!!
We had a fantastic trip down from Coff's. Not much wind but a few miles out, we got into an amazing current which meant that we were doing 10 knots for the first 120 miles and absolutely flew down here. Drimia has never gone so fast! If fact, the chart plotter noted a top speed of 11.6 at one point! Which meant that instead of taking 40-48 hours and getting in on Sunday morning, we were in our marina berth at 5.30 pm (half five, Dave) drinking Gin and Tonics and celebrating with Rod and Kerry, our friends who have been so helpful to us throughout the trip. The weather was beautiful and we saw humpbacks doing what they do on the way down and Pittwater looked stunning in the sunshine. It's great to be here.
Since then the boat has gone up for sale and we even had two people come and look at her this weekend, which hopefully is a good sign that she will sell quickly. We've caught up with friends. We've attempted to get the Ute back on the road (unsuccessfully so far) and we've even looked vaguely at some job sites but not too hard yet.
I will keep in touch on this site for a while. Am I allowed to carry on here even if we live on dry land??? Plan is to buy a house that needs doing up and see if we can make a bit of money, then maybe have a look for a catamaran some where ............. and do it all again! Hope to see some of you out there! Jx
