We finally got our Australian Registration Certificate this week so we could officially change the name of the boat from Manolo to Matilda (actually Matilda of Sydney because, as you can imagine, there are several Matildas registered in Australia!). If you google Boat Re-naming Ceremony, you will find much has been written about how you go about it. Andy was - how can I put it? – sceptical, thinking it was probably written by Moet et Chandon, so we did a sort of compromise ceremony where we splashed a token amount of Greek sparkling pink on the bow, thanked Poseidon for keeping an eye on Manolo for the last eight years and asked if he’d be good enough to do the same for Matilda. We’re hoping that this, the good luck charms of holy water, garlic and basil that we found stashed behind the radio, the Crucifix and the Greek Evil Eye Worry Beads hanging by the nav station will just about cover all bases.
Thanks to Allambie Medical Centre for the flag and Jeni for the lettering. Looks pretty good, doesn’t it?
