We are currently anchored off Gouvia Marina in Corfu waiting for a weather window to Dubrovnik where we will hopefully be meeting my niece and a couple of friends on Thursday. It should take us about 40 hours so we will have two nights at sea.
We tried to go on Friday. We left at 2 pm from a little bay, Ormos Kalami, where we had stopped for lunch and a swim. Seven hours later we were motoring into 25 knot NNW winds managing about 3 knots of speed. The boat was doing that hobby-horsing thing that catamarans do and the rig was banging with every wave. Not a lot of fun. We turned back twice but then the wind seemed to have eased so we tried again. Eventually decided to come back to Corfu and try again another day. Of course, the trip back with the wind behind us and a pod of dolphins riding our bow wave was delightful! Lesson to be learnt there.
