Still waiting but not for much longer!

We have spent the last week mostly sitting the bay outside Gouvia Marina waiting!! It's very strange that, because we can't get up to Croatia, we seem to have been unable to make any plans to do anything else! Our days are centered round the weather forecast broadcast at 0900 and 1900 hours after which we slip into a quiet mass of resentment. Well, I do. Andy just shrugs and finds a job to do.
We did mange to hire a quad bike one day and tour the island. There are some stunning bays all the way round. We went round to Paleokistritsa on the west side as Andy was there 25 years ago. It has changed quite a bit with lots of tourists but still very pretty. We plan to go round with the family when they come in August.
Another day we were so fed up we thought we'd go onto the marina (€69 per night) and get the the fridge looked at which seems to be sucking up all our power and also have an electrician look at our batteries as weren't charging as well as we'd like. Spiros the fridge said the fridge was good but we just needed better ventilation and fitted us an extractor pipe and vent. Andreas the sparky said our batteries were starter batteries rather than the proper service batteries and weren't holding the charge. €1000 for 3 new batteries and we're good to go! You see how much not sailing costs! We have to leave!
We have now been galvanized into action and have a plan. We are going to anchor off the town tonight, go down to Petriti tomorrow and, if the weather forecast is still no good on Monday, abandon Croatia plans and sail down the islands to Paxos, Lefkas, Cephalonia and Zakinthos for the next few weeks.
Having written that down, it don't seem like a bad plan does it??
