Back in, what's becoming, our home port! We had to come back here to have the new engines serviced but thought it would just be for an overnight stop before starting to go over to the Ionian. Unfortunately, whilst in Loutra on Kythnos last week, we got a whack on the bow from a mortified Welshman who was trying to med-moor beside us. Not a huge amount of damage but just goes below the waterline so Matilda has had to come out for repair. it only seems like yesterday, or five weeks ago anyway, that we watched her go in!
We are now sitting in a rather hot, dusty boatyard surrounded by a pack of dogs. Our bit of the boat yard has about 14 dogs, some in kennels, some in a pen but mostly roaming about. Every now and then one will bark and set off all the rest and then the pack at the neighbouring boatyard starts up and rushes up to the top of the hill in between us and barks and howls a bit and then they go away and we all settle down until the next time!
Fortunately Haris, the manager of the charter boat company that arranged to get our engines fitted this year, has very kindly let us stay on one of his boats that's not being chartered this week whilst we are out of the water. He has been so helpful and just makes life a bit easier. Whatever we ask him, he just says 'This is no problem. I will fix for you'. All you want really.
