Making repairs and washing clothes in Nassau

The gray stuff is epoxy putty sealing the crack in the bow; the cracks above the rub rail were also patched later the same way.
Patching the bow turned out to be fairly easy. As Ann determined a couple of days ago, the leak was limited to a small crack in the deck to hull joint right at the peak of the bow. It only took about an hour to apply an epoxy putty on the inside and outside of the crack. The only hard part was squeezing into the skinny bow to apply the stuff on the inside.
In reviewing the previous blog entries, I note that I haven't mentioned our change in plans. Returning to Nassau has pretty much ended our opportunity to go to George Town this season, so we have reoriented ourselves to enjoy the rest of our cruise in Florida. Our goal now is to get to Miami before the 20th so we can take our in-laws, Carol and Elliott, cruising in the upper part of the Keys. From there we'll be sailing around the west side of Florida up to the Fort Myers area where Jascat will be stored for hurricane season.
We would like to leave immediately to make the four day trek to Miami, but the weather forecast is not good for an immediate departure. We are currently experiencing winds up to 20 kt out of the east as we sit here in the Nassau Harbor Club Marina. This is probably kicking up waves in the five to six foot range out in the ocean. The winds are supposed to persist through the weekend so we may be stuck here until Monday. Nassau is fun. There are worse places to be stuck.
